OGL Core Competencies
This portfolio connects five leadership competencies to my coursework and experience in media and business. Project management turns a defined scope and set of deliverables into organized tasks, schedules, and coordinated work. Strategic planning connects longer-term goals to priorities and the resources needed to pursue them. Decision making and problem-solving involve identifying an issue, considering alternatives, and choosing a practical response. Together, these competencies connect direction with the decisions and actions needed to carry out a project.
Responsibility means taking ownership of commitments, decisions, and their consequences. Team dynamics and collaboration involve understanding how people work together, communicate, and coordinate their contributions toward a shared goal. These competencies complement planning by keeping attention on accountability and the people involved in the work. On the Golfland Sunsplash project, I applied my current lessons by rethinking the photo workflow, batching tasks, making a checklist, creating a scope of work, and writing out the deliverables. My experience shows why I need both a practical structure for the work and continued development in how I lead and work with others.
