Understanding the competency
Decision making involves considering possible courses of action and selecting a response. OpenStax emphasizes that managerial choices affect both organizational effectiveness and the people connected to the organization (Bright & Cortes, 2019, section 2.1). Problem-solving begins with identifying the issue that needs attention rather than assuming the first visible symptom is the whole problem. Alternatives can then be compared in light of the goal, available information, resources, and likely consequences. Reviewing the result helps a leader decide whether to continue the approach or change it.
Connection to my work
For Golfland Sunsplash, I had to completely rethink how I approached the photos. My response included batching the work, making a checklist, creating a scope of work, and writing out the deliverables. These were specific decisions about how to structure the work. I applied my current lessons to a real-world situation instead of leaving them only in the classroom. The published project shows the creative output, while the Project Management page explains those planning actions.
Evidence and further reflection
The documented experience supports a discussion of adapting an approach and organizing the response. A complete evaluation also needs my account of the original problem, the alternatives I considered, why I selected this approach, and what I learned from the result. The finished photographs do not establish those decisions on their own. Those details belong in the final personal reflection and artifact explanation.
