Team Dynamics and Collaboration

Understanding the competency

Team dynamics concern how people’s roles, relationships, and interactions influence their work together. OpenStax describes effective teamwork in terms of a shared purpose, complementary contributions, and mutual accountability (Bright & Cortes, 2019, section 15.1). Collaboration requires those contributions to connect rather than remain isolated pieces of work. Communication helps clarify responsibilities and the handoffs on which other people depend. Leadership in a team therefore involves attention to both the task and how people coordinate their efforts.

Connection to my professional work

On the Golfland Sunsplash project, I worked with Tristan Lovely on photo and video content. The project highlighted the venue’s atmosphere, attractions, and guest experience. My work at Media4U also includes coordinating handoffs across production, internal review, editing, and client delivery, as described in my résumé. These experiences provide concrete contexts for examining collaboration. The Golfland gallery presents the creative work associated with that project.

Evidence and further reflection

A shared project is a starting point for this competency, but the final reflection needs to explain my particular contribution, how responsibilities were coordinated, and what I learned about working with other people. The artifact explanation must distinguish my contribution from collaborators’ work. It also needs a specific connection to growth during my ASU studies. Those personal details cannot be established from the finished gallery alone.
